My thoughts below on my time in #F1 👇 https://twitter.com/autosport/status/1277909846944251910
My time in #F1 summed up:
Decided I would respond to such a rediculous comment I found on this article...
Totally incorrect.

In order to get my job in F1 I had to move heaven and earth, migrate 5000 miles, pay $40k to get a masters that I didn’t need, pull in favors from major motorsport organizations and literally get on BBC radio to plead my case JUST FOR AN INTERVIEW.
Moreover, after I proved I was better than the other goobers they interviewed, I had to plead for them to sponsor my visa. 6 years later, I’ve proved I belong, think about how many others turned away at the unimaginable prospects of this.
But if I didn’t literally push harder than everyone else in this planet to make this happen, I wouldn’t have “BAME” students bombarding me with questions on LinkedIn DAILY for the last 6 years because I’m one of VERY few in the sport that looks like them.
I am absolutely certain there is a whole world of capabale engineers, not from the West Midlands, who can bring performance to an @F1 car. I would hope that I serve as proof of that. The teams and the sport as a whole purposely cast a very small net, for a few reasons.
First reason, it’s time consuming, second, it’s expensive, and third, formula 1 teams are risk averse, and if someone came from a certain school, they tend to recruit that school because of familiarity. So I wouldn’t say it’s the team’s fault. They are too busy.
Could @F1 do more to fix this? YES they can. The author of this article referenced the @NFL Rooney Rule and what is has done to be effective in diversifying their sport’s admin and coaching staffs. F1 needs the same.
