White people, before you go inventing your own diversity project attached to your brand, look around at what First Nations-led and POC-led initiatives already exist and supporting them.
It's making my brain bleed that these people who just learnt the word "diversity" a decade after we all stopped using it are now reinventing the wheel and the wheelhouse
No surprise though coz that discovery mentality is the colonial mindset in a nutshell
Also also also. Are you aware that you can simply employ, publish, commission and program artists of colour without branding it as a diversity initiative or seeking accolades for it? As if it's in fact just your job to know what POC talent exists in your field?
When you're offered an opportunity, are you asking who else was invited? Are you asking about accessibility? Are you seeing who's missing and turning things down when it's not for you? We all need to be doing that.
We don't need exciting new ways for white people to be gatekeepers. Just hand over the keys.
Or rather, smash the fence and give the land back!
