Why Firmino is overrated [a thread]
Despite Liverpool fans referring to him as a playmaker rather than a striker , Firmino has more goals that assists. Firmino has 56 goals and 34 assists for Liverpool in the premier league, an average of a goal every 233 minutes and an assist every 382 minutes .
Despite him being a "team player" and a "great passer", Firmino has a pass accuracy rate of 77.92% , which compared to Benjamin Mendy who "can't pass a ball" is significantly lower , with Mendy coming in at an 88.2% pass accuracy rate.
Players such as Henderson for example , are considered to be backwards and sideways passers. Firmino on the other hand has more passes backwards (1434) than forwards (1400).
This season, Firmino has created just 9 big chances, an incredibly low figure given Liverpools dominance this year. Despite creating just 9 big chances , Firmino has failed to score 19 big chances along with having a 53.35% shooting accuracy, which for a striker , is low
A lot of people defend Firmino's lack of goals by explaining that he is surrounded by wingers who are the traditional goal scorers. However missing 81 shots this season doesn't justify that
A lot of people refer to Firmino as a False 9 or a Defensive Striker. Despite that, Firmino has won 17 tackles this season, and intercepted 7 times.
