The "Karen" thing was cute at first but it's actually harmful in that it others, or distances, white women who violently uphold white supremacy from the "default" state of white womanhood to a scapegoated periphery that allows most white women to feel free of culpability.
By highlighting the loud, rude, physically violent white women as "Karens" there's an implication that for a white woman to be a white supremacist she must be loud, rude and physically violent. Which is just not true, and it's this misconception which is harmful because it
overshadows and protects the white women quietly upholding systemic white supremacy. Like the realtors shepherding black buyers to "urban" areas, the doctors and nurses who think black women are immune to pain, the prosecutors who push for convictions for nonviolent offenses etc.
