The easing of lockdown has caused a spike in anxiety for many - here are some steps you might take to manage your mental health
1. Limit news consumption, including on social media - investigate sites like discord and mastadon which discourage zombie scrolling 1/6

2. Anxiety is reduced by having concrete steps you can take - consider what 1 action you can do to reduce your own risk. It could be wearing a mask, sanitising hands, etc. It needs to be a positive step not a refraining from step (imp as not doing stuff is right now) 2/6
3. Talk to your household about what's worrying you, is there behaviour they could change, I realise that's not always safe or possible , but if it is initiate regular household discussions - we have votes on any big change such as one of us going on public transport 3/6
4. - the "if all your friends jumped of the Tyne bridge would you" step. We kind of need to channel geordie mams when we see people behaving irresponsibly. Just because some ppl are doesn't mean we have to go along with it 4/6
5. Acknowledge the contradictions. We can be happy lockdown is easing and petrified lockdown is easing at the same time. Neither emotion is bad or wrong 5/6
6. Find the fun. Fun has been meeting from many of our lives over the past 3 months. What can you do that doesn't involve high risk activities like going to a crowded pub - for fun. Make time for fun, at least each week 6/6
