I often come up against the line that energy efficiency is boring (all too often within the green movement, who really should know better) and find it baffling. https://twitter.com/PickardJE/status/1277528498840707077
I mean, sure, not everyone likes the same stuff. I the PMs face boring. But 1000s of people in the UK die of cold homes each year (+ we could create jobs we cut a lot of carbon) so I'm not sure it's something you get to brush off like that.
And (though I really shouldn't have to say this) because it's been left in such a terrible state for so long, the challenge is enormous. We'd have to insulate a home a minute https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-39107973 (tbh much more, that's old figures).
So if you like grand national challenges (even if the idea of saving lives, creating jobs and tackling climate change aren't enough for you) energy efficiency's right there ready to go. And you can start right away, great photo ops of "shovel ready" projects waiting to happen.
anyway I reckon someone once said "energy efficiency is boring" and like similarly spurious claims like "wind turbines are unpopular" it was just allowed to exist unchallenged in Westminster. Time to call bollocks.
