These are just two sides of the same coin. One wants long games to occupy their time for as long as possible, the other wants shorter game so they can get to their "critique" as fast as possible. Neither really cares about length being appropriate to the game's content.
(This isn't a "dunk" on Franklin, btw - this is an interesting thread I recommend people read. I just disagree with parts of it)
When I had this attitude, I found myself unable to enjoy and even intimidated by games with no definite end, score attack games, etc. Which is kinda bad! Today I know that finishing a game isn't the same as understanding it. You may need to finish it multiple times. Or not at all
