Roma has been starved of success for a long time now, and I am used to that. But, it really feels like the club is currently in a very depressing state, both on and off the field.

It felt like we were close a couple of years ago to a great squad. We had a couple of holes but our midfield, in particular, was very good. We've gone so far backwards it's not funny.

On the field, Monchi's disastrous stint as DS set us back years. Off the field, both the ownership of the club (Pallotta/Friedkin) and the stadium is up in the air. It feels like the fundamentals at the club are a complete mess.

The admittedly very slim chance of a CL place is gone. Aside from the EL, we are now left with meaningless Serie A games played in empty stadiums in the middle of the European summer. We also have no sporting director and seemingly, no direction aside from down.
