probably the most important lesson I have learned as a starting YouTuber:

Don't waste time pining for the acknowledgement of much larger creators. Make connections with smaller folks who are accessible to you, and who are nice people without the baggage of notoriety. https://twitter.com/BadGameHOF/status/1277466094974799872
basically, don't worship figureheads. go make friends. like. y'know. that's it.

Anyway, that tweet I quoted is part of a larger thread that doesn't really have too much to do with the point I made here, but it is a good thread and it made me think of this.
this doesn't mean you can't ever talk to larger youtubers if you get the chance and it seems like it's fine, or if they're seeking smaller folks to shout out or w/e but, don't chase their attention, or think you must have their approval to succeed. you definitely don't.
