2020 hasn't been that interesting of a year. Unlike 2014, 2020 is the natural progression & culmination of existing trends rather than the apparent beginnings of new ones.
Western figures were already anti-Russia even before Maidan, but Crimea & Donbass solidified their hostility. BLM started their first irl protests. Modi became Prime Minister. USA's ill-preparedness for pandemic was evident from the abysmal Ebola response.
Wokeness started to pick up around then too - many were outraged by the fabricated gang rape at UVa. The CIA/State Department weaknesses that have characterized by more recent failures in Hong Kong & Venezuela were foreshadowed in mass defections of Syrian rebels to ISIS.
