The Missouri legislature legalized open carry in 2014. Permitless Carry and Stand Your Ground legislation was passed by the Missouri Legislature in 2016. Permitless Carry did away with any training requirement. When the MO Leg passed #StandYourGround we became the first state since Trayvon Martin's murder to become a SYG state.

Amendment 5 which somehow (ahem!) got on the MO ballot, even though the ballot language was completely confusing, said any form of gun safety should be subject to "strict scrutiny." The amendment also allowed the open carrying of guns. https://tinyurl.com/yartquu8 

So, look. You all can (and should) be mad at the St. Louis couple brandishing firearms at people walking down the sidewalk. But please remember the people who helped create the situation we're in and FIX THAT. The people who legalized Open Carry, Permitless Carry & SYG. #moleg
