Again, parents arent stupid @Sflecce. We know schools will likely have to close again. But if the starting position is half-time, we'll end up locked into that option for the rest of the year.
Once boards and schools start organizing themselves around half-time, it’ll become path dependent, absent direct ministerial directions to open again full-time. Nothing @Sflecce has done thus far makes me think he’ll be ready to make that call.
Between the strikes last year and the current approach to the 2020-2021 school year, Ontario is a bewildering province for families with two working parents.
Let’s assume that we’re living with COVID in its current form for 2-3 more years. Is Ontario’s plan that children will get 2/5th their education during this time? And, no, the online learning won’t make up for it, especially for elementary students.
And if that’s not the plan, then what is it? Basically, it looks like Ontario is hoping that COVID will somehow just go away by January 2021.
