seeing tweets from Black students spending hours and hours of their time in meetings with administrators about how the institution can be less racist

please, my loves, I beg of you... do not waste your energy on committees and task forces, *esp* if you're not being compensated
hit your admins with the demands and bounce, beloveds

they have the money and power to figure out how to make the changes you're asking for. I *promise* you, the resources are there. the will to do anything meaningful isn't, and your "sitting at the table" won't change that
I know bc I've sat for one meeting... where they proposed setting up a committee

that's their game, and it doesn't change
things you can do instead of sitting in on another useless meeting:

1) plan a demonstration to publicly pressure the powers that be
2) lead a teach-in so your peers know the "why" behind your demands
3) connect with student organizers at other institutions to compare notes
4) reach out to alums who have previously organized for the same shit you're demanding now; alums can apply pressure too đź‘€
5) educate yourself more on the institution's policies, pull up their financial statements, the hospital system's community benefit report, etc
6) sleep
7) study, work on your research, apply for grants/fellowships/grad school/residency
8) hang out with friends (socially distanced of course!)
9) learn a new skill or pick up an old hobby
10) read for fun
11) call your momma
12) plug into local community organizing
13) plan your post-COVID times vacation
14) clean your home
15) go to therapy
16) spend time in nature
17) get some physical activity in -- run, bike, dance, do yoga, whatever floats your boat... boating??? lol
