/ I’ve been informed by multiple sources that China's BSN is going to be integrating with public blockchains, the first of which are @ethereum and @NervosNetwork. This is kind of a big deal. Thread. 👇
/ To catch you up: BSN stands for the Blockchain Service Network; it’s a China-wide SOE-backed blockchain network, mostly permissioned. There's been a lot of speculation about it in the Chinese blockchain community.
/ To what extent the government is involved in BSN has been a hot topic of debate, but including public blockchains is huge for the Chinese blockchain ecosystem. In case it’s not obvious: openly supporting public blockchains is kind of a taboo within China.
/ It still remains to be seen whether public officials will support, let alone acknowledge this integration. They’ve largely shied away from acknowledging public chains in the past.
/ But considering BSN's founding members include the State Information Center (govt think tank), China Mobile, and UnionPay (both SOEs), I'd guess something like this couldn't have happened without some level of government involvement, even if indirect.
/ Regardless, BSN's push to open up with support for public blockchains will help China accelerate innovation within crypto. “Blockchain, not Bitcoin” is the gateway drug. Embracing true decentralization is the inevitable next step.
/ We (Dragonfly) predicted that since Xi Jinpeng announced the "Blockchain+" initiative, it would start with permissioned blockchains, but would eventually embrace the innovation happening in the decentralized world.

Well, that's kinda just what happened.
/ Expecting we'll see a formal announcement from BSN about this soon. For now, this is great news for @ethereum, @nervosnetwork, and decentralization advocates everywhere.
