i’ve spent 200 hours analyzing killing eve s3 amounting to a total of 200 tweets in my threads - yet, i’ve still not found one reason 3x05 truly needed to be a stand-alone ep. it sacrificed the entirety of 3x06 forcing the writer to rush logistics and plot lines that needed an
additional episode to cover.
eve begins 3x06 by looking at niko’s near-death & finds photos of bertha kruger’s death on bear’s desk. he informs her it happened last week while she was in poland. this means that from killing bertha in france villanelle immediately went to russia

3x05 seems to take place over the course of 3 full days. villanelle’s still in russia in 3x06 for helene/irina which seems to occur a week following bertha. according to the layout of 3x04-3x06 niko was transferred to hospital in london which we don’t see how involved eve was in
that process apart from her visiting. she assumingely misses days at work since bear fills her in on bertha’s death, but as former MI6, she’s always on top of things - it’s not believable that eve would wait a week to make a move and especially in regards to niko & villanelle.
even if she waited a week, we don’t see her then while we don’t miss what villanelle did. we’re supposed to accept that?
regardless, isn’t that the perfect opportunity to show villanelle & eve’s shared familial internal struggles, side by side, juxtaposed within the same ep?

i understand that to reflect the parallels of a noir film like the third man, it requires a limited viewpoint. however, there were so many missed opportunities in favor of giving villanelle her own parallels while eve and carolyn shared most of them. and to dedicate one whole
episode to one character felt just so incredibly shallow and unnecessary while so many aspects could have been adapted to combine them. the media pomp surrounding 3x05’s release made it obvious what the true purpose of it was and it we shouldn’t ignore it.
