I am in #Bergen, #Norway. Thought I would share a #thread on traveling in the age of #coronavirus.
#Norway and #Denmark opened their borders to each other June 15th. Both countries have developed a system for assessing entry based on a number of #COVID19 stats. Both countries have so far pretty much knocked down there respective #coronavirus outbreaks.
We took an overnight ferry from #Denmark to #Bergen, #Norway. For those back home don’t picture @BCFerries style instead picture a cruise ship that can also carry cars. Our ship was about 1/4 full, which considering it is the height of tourist season here says something..
There was heaps of hand sanitizer onboard and I saw exactly one person with a mask. For context masks are not a thing in Scandinavia and I have rarely seen anyone wearing one. The ferry also had heaps of #COVID19 signage and all the precautions one should take.
Other than that it was an uneventful trip across. We had to clear Norwegian customs after disembarking. It was a fairly quick process even though my Canadian passport got us some extra attention. Once I showed them my Danish residence card all was good.
The only other observation is that while #Bergen is busy it is by far not packed here. Again this is the summer tourist season in Scandinavia. Also a lot of things here remain closed so much so a person in our hotel snidely asked if we had found anything to do. End.
