Hey, y’all. Just a quick little PSA:

Obviously, we’re living in a very pivotal period of change right now. Millions of people are making their voices heard, sharing their stories, and outing those who have done them wrong, and it’s amazing. It takes a lot of courage to do so.
But with that said, it can be VERY mentally draining to put all your attention in to these causes all at once for such an extended period of time (it’s called compassion fatigue, look it up). With this in mind, it is absolutely okay/valid to take a break and regain your energy.
So while you’re still at the point where you can continue to be a voice and very active supporter, take the time to also educate those around you and implore them to get involved as well. That way, whenever you do need a break, someone can be there in your absence.
In short: yes, there are much bigger and important things going on, but your mental health is still important and deserves to be taken care of. Don’t exhaust yourself to the point where you can’t be an asset to whatever movement you choose to be a part of.
