I'll never forget the time I got called to jury duty and mentioned I used to be a rape crisis hotline counselor (for a hot minute, 20 yrs ago in college). The look on that prosecutor's face! Frankly surprised I even made it that far. That was here in New York. Back in Massachusetts I got called up three times and didn't get interviewed at all, tho I'm told 2 of the 3 cases seated juries. I assume because I marked "black woman" on the little card, but who knows.
