We’ve applied for every loan/program we qualify for. On average we are being awarded 1/8th of what was said our eligibility will be. Most of these were based on actual operations costs and revenue. At best we open at 1/5 capacity. These aren’t numbers we can survive with. 1/
In most cases these were emergency loans. Which means we want to get back to business and pay back these debts. We aren’t asking for handouts. We are asking for real resources. We know we aren’t the only ones. We know resources are limited. But we have to stop being rolled. 2/
It’s no different than the lines around OESC. People being told there’s resources and support and yet not getting it. Or it only being given fractions at a time. Meanwhile there is money sitting there. Money we’ve all paid to UI. Money we’ve contributed in taxes. 3/
Why because we thought this was a society. A social contract. We all play the game and contribute and if an when times get hard there is a system in place to help us. Well it’s that time. Where’s the help? Where’s the leadership? 4/
We’ve been somewhat quiet about our struggles and frustrations but that’s about to change. We’ve given our time, our resources, our talents to help. We’ve opened our doors when teachers needed a place to be heard. We’ve raised money for those who lost it all to tragedy. 5/
We’ve hosted debates for all parties. We’ve hosted town halls for our city. We’ve produced events and streams for our friends and neighborhoods. All of this done with litte to no ask in return. Because this is our dream. To be here for our community. 6/
Well I’ll tell you one thing I’ve learned about our team. We don’t stop. We won’t quit. We have a strong voice and powerful resources. We are about to truly turn those resources towards our own survival. If we are on a path towards death you can expect we will not go gentle. 7/
The night is where we live, we were born in the dark. We built from zero and have defied the odds at every turn. But our mission and purpose has always been to bring light. To light that marquee with a message of hope and excitement of what’s to come.
