Listen, when Trump was elected it was obvious the path we were on. The only question was how far down the path we'd go. We all hoped institutions, some "adults in the room", checks & balances would win out.

Well, in my estimation, everyone underestimated how willing the power of the GOP would be to allow him to lay waste to their own reputations in exchange for judges, voter suppression, and their own pockets (Mitch McConnell is a comic book villain cliché at this point)
We all *knew* who Trump was.

He has mob ties
He is a philanderer (multiple times over)
He is bad at business

We all thought we knew more, which seem to now be proven

What we didn't know is how little any of that would matter to the faith and family crowd because of one little detail:
He hates the same people they hate and now they have their champion

The fact that he retweeted someone yelling 'white power' today is just bonkers. And it will be forgotten by Tuesday bc he's a literal chaos monkey of the entire American system.

The good from it all? I believe, sincerely, that we would know the exact count of white supremacists we have in this country by the count of people who vote for Trump this election.

He allowed another nation to put out bounties on our soldiers and, after learning of that, TRIED TO PAVE THE WAY BACK to the G8 for that country.

And that's the literal low bar. I don't need to go into all the way high bar ways he has and will obviously continue to fail us all.

And if it looks like this thread went from Trump -> GOP, it is true, it did. Why? Because it's actually the GOP that is the problem. They allowed him to exist and then persist bc they wanted they wanted to survive a little longer.

I have no doubt that McConnell or Graham or Cotton don't like Trump. But he's useful to them. And that is what matters to make the $ for them and their donors.
