[QUICK THREAD: BOOK OF THE DEAD]
1/6
When you died in Ancient Egypt, your soul had two options depending on how you conducted yourself while alive — Afterlife, or eternal death. But the judgement only came after you'd completed a trip through the Underworld.
2/6
Deadly exotic creatures, lakes of fire, and other prohibitive features made this trip less than convenient. To help your odds, your folks would bury you with a scarab amulet and a papyrus scroll of useful spells called the "Book of the Dead — You Edition."
3/6
Done with the trip? Great, now you're at a place called the Hall of Ma'at. This is where you trial opens. There's 42 judges. Your task is to address all of them by their names. With each name, you also name one sin that you didn't commit. Refer to your book if in doubt.

Cleared? Awesome. On to level 3 now. This one involves Anubis and his scale. Hand over your heart to him who'll then weigh it against a feather. That's why when embalming you, your folks removed all your organs but left your heart in place. This step is key.
5/6
Sins weigh your heart down. So you want yours to not outweigh that feather. If it didn't, congrats, you're through! Thoth would now pass on the results to Osiris, who'd finally allow you into Sekhet-Aaru, the field of reeds. This is where you live in afterlife.

However, should you flunk the feather test, in comes a goddess that's part lion, part hippo, and part crocodile. Her job? Devour your condemned soul thus wiping you off the scene forever. Permanent death.

Her name?

Amit.
