How do you do Maasai Mara on a budget? You leave Nairobi early and get to Osim Country Lodge just outside Narok Towm. They have rooms from 1500/~ (single) to 3,500 for a double incl breakfast.
Apart from the feeling that you're sleeping in a stadium with all the Kenyan flag colors decor, it's a pretty decent room. This is the double room
Spend 1 nite here,leave at around 5.30am and drive to Sekanani Gate. Should take you about 1 hour 30 mins. At this point you will have gotten in touch with me to get you a landcruiser into the park 
. Full day game drive with a sundowner, then drive back to Osim for a night.

Wake up, have a slow breakfast, go fishing, catch nothing like me, then head back to Nairobi.
Doesn't matter what you drive, your car will get you to Osim and Sekanani gate. I will organise your parking for your car as you switch to the landcruiser. Way cheaper than paying for one in Nairobi. If you get stuck, take selfies. Doesn't take long
Come back with memories and awesome pics. Repeat.
