Underwood was killed in a targeted attack on law enforcement, as Cuccinelli writes.
Cuccinelli does not mentions who was charged: An Air Force staff sergeant linked to a right-wing extremist group trying to instigate a civil war. 2/ https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Suspected-Santa-Cruz-County-cop-killer-Millbrae-15343978.php

The murder took place on the same night as protests over Floyd's death. But the alleged killer specifically wrote he was co-opting that movement.
“Go to the riots and support our own cause,” he wrote, per the FBI. "We have mobs of angry people to use to our advantage.” 3/

Countering extremism, especially home-grown , is part of DHS' mission. DHS has not publicly warned of the boogaloo movement except criticize a Politico story on a non-public intel report. Cuccinelli has tweeted about antifa, but not boogaloo. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/06/19/intel-report-warns-far-right-extremists-target-washington-dc-329771 4/
In his piece, he writes: "How do we prevent the death of another Patrick Underwood? We don’t allow lawlessness in our streets. We don’t allow murder to go unpunished. We work to find solutions to these issues."
No mention of extremist groups or the one alleged responsible.

Cuccinelli also complains about lack of national publicity for the funeral. We wrote about it here, fwiw: https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Security-guard-gunned-down-at-Oakland-federal-15352976.php
