/1 #crime #surveillance #LawEnforcement @theOSPAs Very interesting seminar w two former criminals discussing the tactics/techniques they used in the conduct of criminal activity. Some takeaways: Neither of them was particularly concerned w sec. guards, https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=55&v=8nwjpGesHzQ&feature=emb_logo
/2 noting many guards aren’t paying attention to their surroundings. They even tested the attentiveness of security guards and noted those that didn’t pay attention and those that did. They do fear security technologies, such as video cameras and alarm systems, as well as
/3 “nosy people,” meaning those who may spot and report their activity. Both said they conducted surveillance prior to their crimes, focusing on what was of value to steal and what types of security was present. They were careful to dress in a way that would allow them to blend
/4 in and would change their appearance between repeat visits. They often conducted surveillance while on the move and observed the target from multiple vantage points to reduce the chance of detection. They typically traveled away from their home
/5 locations to commit crimes so as not to be recognized. During travel, they were careful to make sure they always had a driver’s license, insurance docs, etc. with them if stopped by law enforcement. Some other interesting tidbit in here. Worth a look.
