okay I’m gonna go in a ramble about blackpink’s comeback because i genuinely feel disappointed. I was expecting so much more from them, especially with how fucking long we had to wait for a comeback.
first of all, this song is revived asf. It seems like they just ripped off things from their previous comebacks and strapped it all together to make this. it’s sounds the fucking same as D4 and Kill this love, and i’m tired of this repetitive sound from them. where’s the variety?
I doesn’t quite sound fresh and probably the only good thing are the dreamy vocals and their undeniable charisma. I’m just tired of their songs sounding the exact fucking same all the time. They don’t even stand out from other girl groups at this point.
“blackpink are trend setters” yeah, I used to believe this too during their rookie era. They were amazing, with lots of potential that was sadly waisted on songs like ‘How You Like That?’ that bring absolutely nothing new to the game. They’ve become trend followers, not setters.
Also???? what the fuck was that beat drop???? i’m tired of them ending songs like this. In D4 the drop makes a bit of sense because Rosé and Lisa’s bridge bouild up to it. It still feels like a rushed ending, but at least it makes sense.
In KTL they use the same ending but this time there’s no build up and no conclusion, it’s just like “here, brest drop to end the song” and that’s why it feels incoherent asf. I really have no idea of what made their productor think that ending HYLT the same was was a good idea.
I don’t know if teddy produced this comeback too, and if he did, he’s really fucking tuning out of ideas because all of their recent lead singles are the same song in different fonts.
and it just feels cheap you know? this is probably the biggest budget they’ve used yet. The mv is fucking amazing and it’s probably their best one yet, but the song doesn’t match. Like it genuinely makes no sense to me. I hate it here.
I’m so upset about this because i was ready for them to blow my brain away. Pls I stayed up waiting for it (the only other time i’ve done something like that was for jennie’s solo) and thought that i didn’t like it because I was half asleep and couldn’t process it.
