Headline: CDC estimates there have been 10x cases of COVID than official numbers.

Twitter: THIS IS WORSE THAN WE THOUGHT!

(Actually, we'd like that number to be higher. It means lower mortality rate and higher number with likely immunity.)

Twitter: THIS PROVES COVID IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT

(They're only saying about 7% of the nation has had COVID, which is frustratingly low. It would make the COVID IFR at minimum ~0.55. Swine flu IFR was ~0.02.)
Headline: We set a new record in COVID cases.

Twitter: THE SITUATION IS WORSE THAN LATE APRIL!

(We're testing 3x as many people as we were then. As of this moment at least, it's not nearly as serious a situation as late April. This can change quickly, of course.)
Headline: We set a new record in COVID cases.

Twitter: THERE'S NO REAL INCREASE. TESTING IS JUST HIGHER.

(This was basically true until about 3 wks ago. Positivity rate shows the change - TX has gone from 4.7% to 12.7% positive. Not just raw increase in tests anymore.)
Headline: States facing outbreak consider closing businesses.

Twitter: WE MUST LOCK DOWN OR EVERYONE WILL DIE

(People stayed at home before government restrictions. They exited before they expired. People are leading the gov't, not the other way around.)
