Few notes on Pakistan PM's suicide attack on his own nation:

- His statement doesn't hurt US. US is laughing. It hurts Pakistan and its interests.

- It also washes away Pakistan's sacrifices in War on Terror, something that Pakistani leaders love to tell everyone about. https://twitter.com/Natsecjeff/status/1276460898098581504
- Pakistan says it does not like what recent US report on terrorism says and yet PM Khan's statement (and previous ones, such as when he said ISI trained al-Qaeda) reinforce the view that Pakistan is indeed safe haven for extremism, if not terrorism.
- Also rubbish to say PM Khan's statement was in retaliation for US blocking Pakistan's political stunt at UN to get an Indian national designated as terrorist. What was Pak thinking? That the global powers would allow that? Get real.

- And even if we buy that nonsense, (cont)
like I said, that statement doesn't hurt US at all. It only reinforces what many in Washington have long said about Pakistan. It only hurts Pakistan and its own interests.

- The statement also hurts Afghanistan peace process, as one of the main points of Doha Deal (cont)
has been that Taliban will not allow al-Qaeda to find refuge in Afghanistan. Taliban has still not once condemned al-Qaeda. Now what does it say when the PM of the country playing the main role in peace process - thanks to its close links with Taliban - defends OBL? It says a lot
- Pakistan's own narrative is in high contradiction itself. On one hand Pakistani conspiracy theorists claim US created AQ, on the other hand they defend OBL and and his likes. Make up your mind.

- Lastly, OBL/AQ and their affiliates like AQIS and by extension TTP (cont)
have blood of tens of thousands of Pakistanis - including Pakistani soldiers - on their hands. By defending these groups/people, Pakistanis are spitting on their own fallen, first & foremost. If anyone should be concerned about this, it should be Pak itself.

Enjoy the shitshow.
Let me add a few points in this thread about China and terrorism:

- If Pakistanis think China would go out of its way to defend Pakistan on all issues related to terrorism, they're wrong. Sure, China came to the aid of Pakistan on Masood Azhar. That's mostly because (cont)
Azhar and his group are India/Kashmir-focused. But al-Qaeda? Al-Qaeda would be a red line for China.

- China itself faces some amount of terrorist threat from al-Qaeda and its affiliates. One notable group that is focused on China & is comprised of mainly Uyghur Muslims (cont)
is al-Qaeda affiliated Turkestan Islamic Party, also known as TIP.

- TIP has presence in Syria as well as some presence in Afghanistan. TIP is a designated terrorist group by China, USA, UN as well as Pakistan.

- TIP has carried out attacks against Chinese interests (cont)
in China as well as in Pakistan (as well as plots in other places).

- While China does overplay the TIP threat to justify its wholesale policies in Xinjiang, it would be wrong to say that China does not face any kind of terrorist threat from TIP, which is tied to al-Qaeda.
- So to sum it up, Pakistanis should think again if they think that some eyebrows in Beijing won't be raised when they see PM Khan defending OBL. After all, al-Qaeda & its affiliates also pose a threat to Chinese interests in Pakistan.

End.
