Ladies and gentlemen, I give you: Barks and Recreation; or, a thread featuring the @parksandrecnbc series regulars and a bunch of dogs that could play them. And yes, #barksandrec is a product of my insomnia, thankyouverymuch.
Leslie Knope ( #AmyPoehler): a golden retriever. Goldens are known for being loyal and affectionate. These playful pups never meet a person they can’t win over. Plus, you know, blonde. #barksandrec
Ben Wyatt ( @mradamscott): a beagle. Friendly, gentle, and extremely loyal. They also give good face. #barksandrec
Ann Perkins ( #RashidaJones): a saluki. I’m not going to lie, I based this one exclusively on appearance. Salukis are way more aloof than Ann could ever be—but they both have excellent hair and would like you to know they don’t suffer fools gladly. #barksandrec
Chris Traeger ( @RobLowe): a border collie, of course. Highly intelligent, and full of E N E R G Y. You *literally* cannot tire them out. #barksandrec
Ron Swanson ( @Nick_Offerman): an airedale terrier. Extremely independent, and prone to digging and barking. Sounds like the right kind of dog to keep you company while you build your cabin in the woods…and to keep others away from it when you’re done. #barksandrec
Andy Dwyer ( @prattprattpratt): a boxer. Are absolute goofball, frequently awkward, really just happy to be here. #barksandrec
April Ludgate ( @evilhag): a shih tzu. Stubborn and independent, shih tzus do not want to do anything you ask them to do, like, ever. But at least they give excellent side-eye. #barksandrec
Tom Haverford ( @azizansari): a schipperke. Intelligent, curious, and stubborn. Active, but small enough that they don’t need a lot of space to run around in. #barksandrec
Jerry Gergich ( @JimOHeir): a pug. Affectionate and loyal. Difficult to train. Not very fast. #barksandrec
Donna Meagle ( @unfoRETTAble): a standard poodle. Poodles are very smart and tend to excel at everything you ask them to do. People tend to think of them as girly, but they’re much tougher than they look. #barksandrec
Okay that’s it for the series regulars but I had to keep going. So, Jean-Ralphio Sapperstein ( @rejectedjokes): a bichon frise. Bichons are cheerful and playful, but really it’s all about the hair. #barksandrec
Mona Lisa Sapperstein ( @jennyslate): an Old English Sheepdog. Bubbly and sociable, but there’s just a lot happening here. #barksandrec
And finally (at least for now), Tammy Two ( @MeganMullally) a chow-chow. Chow-chows may look harmless (so fluffy!) but when they turn aggressive, they are absolutely terrifying. #barksandrec
Who did I miss? Which dogs would you cast? Why am I like this? #barksandrec
