I’m all for trying out new games! New systems? Hell yes! I’ve got some others I enjoy.

when people ask me what games they should try, I honestly don’t know what to suggest. Why? Because I don’t know what kind of experience you want from TTRPG from just looking at you.
Different strokes for different folks right?

I don’t want to suggest something I really like and have someone go in to buy it and not enjoy it.

If you are really interested in learning other systems, I highly *highly* recommend looking into them.
You’ll hopefully be able to determine if it’s the kinda game you like. If not, ask people. Post up a tweet saying “how’s Rpg X? I’m interested in it.”

Ask your friends. Ask questions to help you determine if it’s what you’re looking for.

“Is it fun” is a good staet
but that’s a very general and subjective question. Be specific. Ask stuff like:

“Is it crunchy/complex?”

“What’s the barrier of entry?”

“Will it let me do X or Y?”

“Is it hackable?”

“I want to run this thing. Think it could do that?”

“Does it support narrative play?”
These kinds of questions will be able to let you kind of figure out is it something worth looking into.

Also... lots of smaller devs have basic starter sets for rules that let you try the game out!

It can seem daunting to try a new system, but with some research, you can make
it a little easier on yourself
