Thread on Tamil movies glorifying police brutality and violence:
1. Kaakha Kaakha

One of the most problematic scenes in the film. Cops "encounter" a rape accused and make a mockery of human rights activists. Justification is that it costs less to "deliver justice" with just one bullet.
2. Saamy

The "hero" cop literally says he is a poriki (rogue) not police. Gives a speech asking fellow cops to hit and kick anyone they please if they feel they are committing crime. Movie has another scene where he kills an unarmed guy with duplicate gun.
3. Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu

Entire songs glorifies extra judicial killings and police violence. There is a scene this film where Kamal says "We don't need warrant to go inside houses in India". We are supposed to be proud of this!
4. Singam trilogy
All 3 movies have fetished over "encounters" and police vigilantism. The "hero" cop even calls an African drug dealer as "monkey" in the 2nd part.
5. Theri

Our "hero cop" decides what punishment the accused must get and kills him by cutting his penis. Who needs courts and trials, just kill as you please!
6. Yennai Arindhal

Yet another Gvm film where our hero cop breaks many protocols, just kills accused without trials and threatens people with murder.
7. Darbar

Atrocious and most irresponsible film ever made. Full movie is about how the "hero cop" kills anyone he likes, stages extra judicial killings and makes a mockery of rights activists.
8. Osthi

Hero cop used his police power to bully his half brother and family, stalks a woman and as usual kills suspects without any trial.
9. Theeran

Based on real life story. Aside from demonising a marginalised group as "criminal tribe", this movies glorifies torture techniques and encounters. You would think rights activists are villains watching this film.
10. Vikram Vedha

Film is about an extra judicial murder but still the "hero cop" is an "encounter specialist" who kills anyone he pleases. Again, human rights is shown as mockery and justifies killing under trials.
