Mike Evans. A thread.
Godwin saw 121 targets in 2019 while Evans saw 118. Evans did that in 13 games, while Godwin did it in 14 games.

For some reason people think that Godwin is the WR1 in the offense simply because Brady likes targeting the slot.
Julian Edelman and Gronk are the best WRs Brady has had the last few years, besides the few games with AB. Where do those two primary play? The slot.

Of course Brady is going to target the slot when his best WRs are primarily lined up there.
Mike Evans is averaging 1,100+ receiving yards and 8 touchdowns over his six year career.

He is younger than Cooper Kupp, Michael Thomas, Davante Adams, OBJ, and DeAndre Hopkins.

Quit fading Evans because he doesn't primarily play in the slot.
Evans had 17 RZ targets to Godwins 13. Each of the WRs had 8 touchdowns this past season in the red zone. Evans is 6'5" while Godwin is 6'1".

Gronk will definitely cut into those RZ targets, but Evans is a mismatch in the pay dirt.
Evans was only behind Julio for air yards last season. That is a whopping 28% of the teams targeted air yards.

Should this be looked at as a bad thing? Not at all. This shows that not only can he play well in the intermediate game, but he is a deep threat.
Here are Evans' finishes his career in the league:

2019: WR15 - would have finished as the WR2 ahead of Godwin if he played all 16 at his FPPG pace.
2018: WR9
2017: WR17 - missed one game
2016: WR3
This just doesn't seem right to me. Evans should be drafted right in the same tier as the other WRs listed.

This is like taking Ridley above Julio because Ridley is younger.
Stop fading Evans because Brady "likes to target the slot more." Evans is a bonafide stud and arguably a top 5 WR in the league right now.

Is Godwin a good player? Yes, but is he better than Evans because of one good season? Not in my opinion.
