In St. John Paul II’s encyclical, “The Gospel of Life,” he invited us to “pray & fast so that power from on high can break down the walls of lies and deceit.” I invite you to pray & fast for some of our public figures who downplay racism & perpetuate the racial divide. #Prayer
In the “Ratzinger Report,” Cardinal Ratzinger who would later become Pope Benedict XVI wrote, “If we do not fast we will not be able to free ourselves of certain devils of our times.”
One of the very 1st commands of God in the OT was to fast. God told Adam & Eve to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good & evil. I encourage some public figures to fast from speaking for a season.
After hearing a brother priest complain about his parishioners, St. John Vianney asked him, “Have you fasted for them?” Brothers and sisters, today is the day to pray and fast for each other and especially our misinformed public figures.
