This is a problem for many reasons but mainly because black men have the LOWEST life expectancy and HIGHEST death rate of ALL. . Lots of forces contribute to this (cough: criminal justice system) but increasing black men in medicine is

Black pts more likely to do preventative care and accept invasive interventions from Black doctor. Incr. Black docs would reduce black-white cv mortality gap by 19%!!!
