please read this!! scott and I spoke at great length about this on the phone the other day regarding men (who have not been affected by abuse) going “oh fuck this, I’m done with wrestling” and walking away from it https://twitter.com/scott_murrin/status/1276480265918074880
I understand it’s disgusting and uncomfortable to see the extent of the systematic abuse but please know that walking away from this is a privilege and if you all go we can’t do anything to change it. the brave people telling stories will be for nothing and it will happen again
wanting to distance yourself from it is valid and if you decide don’t want to attend shows anymore then that is fine but don’t peace out when you’re needed the most. the responsibility of fixing everything should not land on the women that have been let down already
if you want to be an ally then keep giving your voice to shit shit. message and email promoters saying you don’t want X on shows. please don’t give up and walk away because wrestling will continue anyway and we need to all be here to fight for a change
if you are a person that has been affected by abuse in or out the wrestling business then of course I would never expect you to stick around. you don’t owe anyone an explanation if you can’t bare to be in this community anymore because it’s too hurtful
but men (again, who have not been directly affected) please rethink walking away. I’m not saying this isn’t an uphill battle and I’m not promising it will change but stay and try. these stories cannot be for nothing and we can’t allow it to happen ever again
I didn’t even bother proof reading this before sending tbh so there’s typos everywhere but you get the point
