Cracking leisure cycle routes in London (A Thread). In a loop from #Highbury today, I cycled along the #PymmesBrook, the #DollisBrook, the #RiverBrent, & the #RegentsCanal. It was amazing! Great infra makes cycling fun! #cyclefriendly #cycling #PeopleFriendlyStreets #cyclecam
Leaving #Highbury, I passed through #FinsburyPark. Immediately there’s a big hill on #OakfieldRd (lots of peddling), but the reward is to coast down the other side, with views of #AlexandraPalace.
Took backroads through Crouch End & Hornsey. Then passed under the railway using #Greenways. Followed the #NewRiverPath through #NightingaleGardens. #PalmerstonRd was quiet with #familiescycling on it. A truck partially blocked the A406 #cyclelane but suppose it was fine.
This was when the journey became really enjoyable - #ArnosPark, with a #sharedpath which runs alongside the #PymmesBrook. Lovely here. #cyclefriendly #cycling #PeopleFriendlyStreets #cyclecam
Then passed under the #ArnosParkViaduct onto #WaterfallsWalk, which continues the route alongside the #PymmesBrook. Was stunning. #cyclefriendly #cycling #PeopleFriendlyStreets #cyclecam #viaduct #london #londoncycling
Next was #OakHilPark - a lovely relaxed part of the route on a #sharedpath alongside the #PymmesBrook. #cyclefriendly #cycling #PeopleFriendlyStreets #cyclecam #london #londoncycling
After an on road section (with hills), I reached #BrookFarmOpenSpace, & began to follow the #DollisValleyGreenWalk. It was really enjoyable, with people kindly sharing the space & saying hi as I passed. #cyclefriendly #cycling #PeopleFriendlyStreets #cyclecam #london #londonparks
Annoyingly there’s a section of the #DollisValleyGreenWalk that isn’t yet open (or paved) for #cyclists, so you have to #bypass it via #HoldenRd. ( @BarnetCouncil @TFL - please complete this missing link). But it was quiet & pleasant tbh with people nodding hello as I passed.
