Race and class are two different things. I was reading a post today, and it was a good post about the Irish and the struggles they have had to endure with GB. The Irish potato famine was horrendous, I would write about it but, it would be a longer thread.
Basically, to understand how race and class differ, you can look at how the wealthy Whites manipulated lower-class Whites into believing they were "better" than Black folks. This has turned the tide in Bacon's rebellion, and caused a huge slaughter...
...of Black folks in the Draft Riots in 1863. The wealthy weaponized race in both cases, to divide and conquer. And I see the same mistakes being made. Historical reference is a very important thing, because you learn from the past so that you don't repeat mistakes.
For many of my brothers and sisters, we know certain things about our history but, we cannot articulate (or at least some of us can't) why certain things happen. I'll let those who never heard of those incidents look them up, and read about what happened.
But we really need class consciousness and an end to these "differences" if we are going to achieve any real success. That means many White ppl will have to stop believing the garbage they've learned, not only in media but in school.
Recognize how you've been manipulated. You know why the Trumps and Owens, and many others choose to ignore the Southern Strategy? Because it tells the story of how White ppl were catered to by politicians, who used racism to gain votes.
When you identify the enemy, which is the state, and the wealthy you will find common ground and solidarity. Until then, White ppl need to educate themselves, and some of my brothers and sisters need to read a little, as well
