Supreme Court bench led by J AM Khanwilkar begins hearing a plea challenging the @theicai notification which gave CA aspirants an option to opt out of the May 2020 exam cycle due to #COVID-19. Plea argues ICAI notification is arbitrary and discriminatory. #SupremeCourt
Adv Alakh Alok Srivastava for petitioner: My petitioner is Mumbai based

Senior Adv Ramji Srinivasan: The petitioner proceeds on incorrect assumptions. There is no prejudice caused.
J Khanwilkar: Can you file an affidavit on behalf of ICAI by June 29?

Senior Adv Srinivasan: Yes

Adv Srivastava: But the deadline for opt out is expiring tomorrow!
SC: If we decide in your (petitioner) favour, we can issue directions

#SupremeCourt posts the matter for June 29. ICAI directed to file affidavit by Monday in response to the petition.
