I hope one day people can learn and change and grow before they make millions of dollars doing black face.
Also looks like we found the line for white fragility, and you cross it when a white person you like cries in a video because footage of their work resurfaced.
My tears are reserved for all the black people who will never even attempt to have a YouTube career because they don’t want to be subjected to racism all day every day as a living.
I’ll cry for the black people who stopped making videos because of the hurt caused by people who made millions of dollars mocking them and then once they were nice and comfortable decided to reflect.
Yes, people can grow and change. No one ever said they can’t. But if that growth is contingent upon the ones they’ve hurt forgetting they ever did it, then it’s not growth.
Also good for anyone that leaves YouTube! I honestly think growth happens off the internet but I’m sleep.
And finally, if you were an adult 8 years ago you knew it was wrong 8 years ago. I’m glad you care now, but the growth wasn’t “learning.” So stop telling me about what people learned.
