Perhaps we can start by addressing the fact that a staff who refused to respect my identity (always used she/her) enabled a culture of members who felt it was okay to write and post things like this to the member slack
In 2018, one of the new policies YEA! rolled out was that members under 18 slept in a marked off area (marked by caution tape!) in the gym. We were also divided by gender. When I asked if transgender members were considered, I was told to just choose a side.
Then we have this gem: a 3 year vet and section leader telling his horn sergeant (me) that they moved too slowly during field lining because I am transgender and need special accommodations. No repercussions.
How upsetting to have come over from @bostoncrusaders having marched in the Boston Pride parade in 2015 to the Cadet LGBTQ+ experience, where I had to argue about whether or not my identity is valid with members and staff. As a leader.
