1.0 Prelude

When I started on Twitter, I had no idea what I was doing, I tried the follow-unfollow strategy and got suspended.

I re-evaluated my strategy, pivoting from building connection and engagement.

1.1 Meeting the Twitter Elite

Twitter is not a perfect place. You need to curate your timeline.

The sad thing is Twitter recommends horrible accounts to follow. That list is comprised of news networks, celebrities, and politicians.

Be liberal with your blocks
4/

If you want Twitter to work for you, you cannot conform to following the biggest names in the real world. Twitter has its own ecosystem.

After finding the "Elites" that you resonate with, follow them, but more importantly, look at who they are following
5/

1.2 Joining the Tribe

How can you join the conversation?

The answer is simple, pick something and stick to it.

Keep posting about it so consistently that you are beginning to be tagged by others whenever that topic is mentioned on the internet.
6/

I have to credit @CMillerTalks and @HeroJourneyOn here, they taught me how to reply, where to reply, and more.

You know your brand strategy pays off when you are brought into the conversation whenever your niche is mentioned on the internet.

This diagram has all credit to @mkobach

Each of us has many things to talk about.

Look at the diagram below, the large black circle is all the different things we could talk about on Twitter, the white circle in the middle is what we should be talking about.

Example:

Many of us out there can talk politics, sports, and marketing.

But if your posts have no direction, you will not have followers.

If they did follow you because of an amazing tweet analyzing the NBA season, they will be confused when you tweet about education.
9/

In order to keep on track with my ideas, I keep a Tweetboard database on @NotionHQ

On a day where I feel inspired I fill it with over 20 tweets to prepare for the days where I have no motivation.

1.3 The 30 Day Challenge

I challenge you to Tweet every single day for 30 days

Experiment a little, tweet at different times, different lengths, different tones

Then use Twitter Analytics to see what is working, take the good trends and use it for your next 30 days

1.4 The Formula of a Viral Tweet

Compression: People do not read Twitter, they browse it.

No Spam: No tags, go for quality

Simplicity: This is why lists work.

Novelty: What wins on Twitter is if you give someone a new perspective.

1.5 Your First Impression of the Internet

First impressions are important. And you’re Twitter bio is your first impression on the internet. Make those 160 characters count.

- Deliver a promise: Align it with your niche, tell people what they should expect from you
13/

- Use your pinned Tweet as social proof, make it a list, or a link to an article, whatever conveys authority in your area.

- @Linktree_ centralizes all your links in one place, saves characters

- Balance Serious and Fun - be relatable and try to work w/ current trends

1.5 The Best for Last

Use your DM's. I try and engage with people that follow me. • What posts did you like
• What would you like to see
• What are some things you are working on

(S/O @AyAy_Ron69 - engagement is what wins)
15/

DM's also allow you to reach out to people you never thought you could reach

If you perfected your Twitter bio earlier, people will be impressed and interested in you

Results:
• Connected w/ 2 podcast guests
• Joined Newsletter Mastermind
• Found mentors
16/

I have begun to develop a policy that if you ever want to chat, reach out to via Twitter and I will aim to schedule a call with you to discuss any topics that interest you.

We can discuss problems, success, interests, projects anything ☕️ (inspired by @cullinmcgrath)
17/

To conclude:

Curate your feed

Perfect your bio

Tweet with quality and drive

Undertake the 30-day twitter challenge, DM me at the start and at the finish so I can see your growth.

You will make lasting connections!
