ancient blue update. they published a new paper where they figure out what LindyMan told you years ago. That blue is the color of the sacred in the ancient world (and today). The blue minoan monkeys in Knossos resemble the blue monkeys in Egypt
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babi_(mythology)
The animals the Egyptians chose weren't random. They all had one thing in common, they were useful to the people. Baboons had to be useful to survival. every animal they venerated had that in common.

So how were they useful? It looks like they helped pick fruit for people.
Some more info on usefulness of monkeys in ancient egypt
Usefulness (helping humans survive) of each animal diety in ancient egypt according to Diodorus Siculus

1) Cow (oxen): Ploughs the soil
2) sheep: provides wool, milk, cheese
3) Dog: hunting and man's protection
4) Cat: useful against asps with deadly bite and reptiles that sting
5) Crocodile: Would protect the Nile from foreign invaders

6) Ichneumons (mongoose) It would kill the eggs of the crocodile so the crocodile would not overpopulate the nile.
7) Ibis: Bird that protects against snakes, locusts and the caterpillars

8) Hawk: Against scorpions, horned serpants, small animals of noxious bite which cause the destruction of men
What's it all about? People go into details. But really It's all about survival and usefulness in the ancestral environment

the rest is aesthetics...
