This is a good thread from a smart person that touches on that.

To be clear I don't for a moment think "ooops they didn't realize how much power they had in that situation" is remotely relevant to most of what's being talked about in SF/F and Comics

But on like, an everyday basis, I think this is something that people, particularly people in nerd circles who may not have been regularly part of large social groups till they are older teenagers or young adults, don't understand as well as some people do.
