. @lotus_ruan: according to the tracking from @citizenlab, Waiwai started censoring COVID-19 related keywords at the end of December, one day after Dr. Li Wenliang whistle blew to colleagues.
. @fangkc in the past, we have seen journalists in China deliver excellent reporting at the early stage of a crisis such as Tianjin Explosion, Sichuan Earthquake. As soon as the government adjust their response, it will be much more difficult for journalists to report on a crisis.
. @amyyqin: When I got to Wuhan in the beginning of the pandemic, people were so angry and were willing to talk to foreign reporters. The night I left was the night when Dr Li Wenliang died. The censorship afterwards ramped up.
. @lotus_ruan: through monitoring, we see platforms are taking active actions in censorship. @ZhaoyinFeng adds: it is still on-going.
. @fangkc: the heated discussions about issues are happening during the pandemic like around Fang Fang Diary shows the dark side of the Chinese internet. Fang Fang's Weibo account is not deactivated (yet). But the attacks are more appalling here than government censorship.
