Upper middle class woman: {hollering abt 1000s of years of patriarchal oppression}

In the USA. In 20-freakin-20.

Girl, get back in YOUR space-time coordinates, re-ground in reality, & stop decrying your oppression when you're one of the most privileged humans on Earth. #mood
If you reside in the US & didn't just escape literal bondage or an actually oppressive regime, I don't want to hear about your supposed oppression.

Humans trafficked as slaves are oppressed. Americans mostly are not. That you'd appropriate the term is ridiculous & offensive.
& yeah, I mean it even if you had a handsy boss back when. Even if, like me, you were raped. Sex assault is far more common in other places. Thankfully, we live in a society that overwhelmingly condemns it & have laws to discourage & punish.

Bc US isn't a patriarchal hellscape
Seriously. The United States' rape rate is less than half of Sweden's. Because we don't actually live in a misogynist hellscape.

(Also WTH is going on in Sweden?)

So as we spin off into another #MeToo frenzy w new celeb cases springing up, please maintain perspective. Yes, justice shd be done. Properly & truly. So no, don't endorse every crazy story you hear. Don't fear or smear 1/2 the population bc a small subset of their group assault
Beware falling into mass re-traumatization & grief processing rituals that often seem to spring up among some survivors, advocates, allies.

And if you find this coverage sometimes triggers PTSD, anxiety, or depression, give serious thought to how much of it you shd dwell with.
We all have a limit as to how much human tragedy we can bear. And IME, we with emotional dysregulation issues arising from trauma have to be especially discerning & proactive abt managing those stressors that are within our own, direct control. YMMV.
All that to say - any tragedy you've experienced is not evidence of an oppressive system that must be violently dismantled. It's evidence you're human. Bc humans are flawed. & sometimes flawed humans do bad things to other humans.
US women sometimes experience discrimination or hardship, but we also enjoy advantages. Yes our society cd figure out work-life balance better. But we can discuss & address residual sexism & social challenges of interest w/out a melodramatic oppression narrative.

That's all.
