A thread on an Aussie #LFC fan’s journey to this morning’s crowning moment… ‘I was there’…
I was there for 1, 2, and 3am wake-ups – too many to count - to often watch dreary, disappointing football being played on the other side of the world, paying for the lack of sleep at work each and every time. #LFC
I was there for Rafa’s rant.

I was there for the beach ball goal.

I was there for “this does not fucking slip”. #LFC
I was there for the countless false dawns, particularly 2002, and 2009, and 2014. Oh my 🤬 god, 2014! #LFC
I was there for handing 4 points to a Sunderland side who would finish the ’02-03 season as the worst team the Premier League had ever seen. #LFC
I was there for every defensive calamity and every goalkeeping howler that seemed to be our perpetual calling card. #LFC
I was there for the foolish pounds paid for rubbish players – Konchesky, Balotelli, Lambert, Downing, Adam, Benteke, Aquilani, Keane, Diouf, Borini, and Aspas among too many others. Oh, and Andy Carroll. How could I forget Andy Carrol?! #LFC
I was there for all the transfers we just couldn’t get over the line, for the players we missed who would have apparently been the “missing piece”. There are simply too many to name. #LFC
And I was there for the sales of our stars who felt their dreams and ambitions could not be realised at Anfield. Players like Torres, and Suarez, and Alonso, and Mascherano around whom I thought the next great Liverpool side would be built. #LFC
I was there when Reds were duped into thinking Bruno Cheyrou was the ‘New Zidane’. #LFC
I was there for the 6-1 vs Stoke in Steven Gerrard’s final match (I cannot imagine a worse send off for a club legend in the history of football). #LFC
I was there promises of shiny new stadiums, and transfer war chests. #LFC
I was there for shady, crooked, underhanded, asset-stripping owners who didn’t have the club’s best interests at heart, who almost led to our extinction. #LFC
I was there for Federico fucking Macheda vs Villa (Google it). #LFC
But this has made me the #LFC fan I am today. And this has made this morning’s result all the more sweeter, even though we weren’t on the pitch.
Because if I wasn’t there for all of the dreck over the past 20 years, I wouldn’t have been there this morning to watch – of all teams – Chelsea score the goals to hand us the title. #LFC
If I hadn’t been there for Kyriakos, I wouldn’t have been here for Van Dijk. #LFC
If I hadn’t been there for Ngog, Borini and Aspas, I wouldn’t have been here for Salah, Firmino and Mane. #LFC
If I hadn’t been there for Poulsen, Shelvey and Spearing, I wouldn’t have been here for Hendo, and Fabs, and Gini, and Milly and the Ox. #LFC
And if I hadn’t been there for the anticlimaxes, the unspeakable cock ups, and the unfathomable losses to horrible teams, I wouldn’t have been there for Istanbul. Or the Gerrard FA Cup Final, or the 2019 CL Final. #LFC
I wouldn’t have been there for “CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY ORIGI!!!” #LFC
And I wouldn’t have been there this morning.

But I was there. I’m still here, and I’ll always be here.

Liverpool are champions. #LFC

BOOM! #YNWA
