I recently started playing a phone game in which you can watch ads to unlock things (this is common).

Since these ads probably are probably mostly random, I've started getting some… interesting ones I may not see on platforms like Facebook, Google, Twitter with more targeting.
Like a short clip in which a woman says she lives in an area hit hard by the shutdown. (implying she lost her job)

Initial reaction: sympathy

Then, she continues: with millions of Americans unemployed, shouldn't we pause foreign worker visas?

Wait, what?! But it's over.
That's the entire ad. 5 seconds.

It's sponsored by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which is extremely *anti* immigration.

I'd probably never get targeted for ads like this, so being reminded that propaganda like this is out there is scary but also important.
Apparently they don't just want to limit immigration. According to Wikipedia: "The Southern Poverty Law Center classifies FAIR as a hate group with close ties to white supremacist groups."
