A thread of movies that changed my life and perception of it. This is in like a realistic sense not a cheesy or hyperbolic way.
Waves by Trey Ed Shults is a mixing pot of every teenage and young adult experience you can think of presented in the most mature way possible. It’s use of music and cinematography grabs your attention and never lets you go. It’s extremely emotional and relatable to almost all.
A high intensity anti-drug commercial, essentially. Although a very loose plot, the movie maintains your attention with tiny little moments each character has to overcome with battling an addiction, whether it be heroin, coke, or even weight loss pills and TV. Its heartbreaking.
A movie about intentity, race, and culture. It’s incredibly funny and lighthearted but has an extreme emotional core that seems very sincere. The two leads are bffs irl and you can see that. There’s impromptu rap scenes that are great and the movie is relevant to today’s world.
Everyone knows this. It’s cozy and cute and makes you feel very warm inside without even trying. Brad Bird is a master at animation and can make a very simple plot something unique and iconic. There’s a lot of heart and passion behind it and if you hate it then ur probs a demon
A movie about masters and who they are. You can be your own master or someone else’s puppet throughout your life. JP and PSH do great here. Lots of great ensemble cast (Rami Malek, Amy Adams). Focuses on male sexuality and power. A very subtle movie yet also extremely powerful.
Kubricks last movie which is incredibly overlooked. It’s about relationships and drifting apart and jealousy and sex and anger and cults (haha Scientology Tom Cruise wow). It’s great on a 1st watch but even better on 2nd. It’s a slow burn but it sits well in ur mind afterward.
A recent Noah Baumbach movie. Wife of Greta Gerwig. This movie chronicles a divorce. It’s incredibly down to earth and bitterly real at points, but it’s not without it’s cute character moments. Don’t base this movie off of that clip you see on Twitter, just watch it. It’s perfect
Mommy is shot in 1:1 frame and is French Canadian. Odd to some people but it works and has numerous emotional moments involving a 14 y/o kid with ADD and his mother trying to live with it. One of the best endings to a movie I’ve seen and it will make u cry cuz I she did 😔
Sorry I’m done now. I’m just boredom
