. @SamiMokbel81_DM also says if he was a betting man, he would put money on Willian ending up at Arsenal. All the components are in place for that: He’s already in London. His agent has very close links to the club now.

Mikel Arteta: “We were disappointed [after Brighton] because we threw the game away, a game that we should have won. It was tough for the next 48 hours & we suffered, [but] they showed they really cared about what happened. Since yesterday, the mood has been much better.”
Mikel Arteta on how he bought the spirits up this week “Just lift them [the players] up, bring the confidence, show them why we are giving points away - the reason behind it & focus on the things we’re doing right.”
Mikel Arteta on Bukayo Saka: "He has a manager that has total belief in him & a club that totally support him. He has team-mates that adore him. It is in his hands [if he stays]. The maturity that he shows on the pitch is really good."
Arteta on Saka's future: "It’s in his hands. He has a manager who has total belief in him & teammates who adore him. You can put him in different positions & he picks it up really quickly. He could have produced three goals today easily"
Mikel Arteta on dropping Guendouzi from the squad: “Squad management. [Related to Brighton incidents?] Whatever internal issue we have, we deal with it privately.”
Mikel Arteta: “The needs of the team & the needs of the football club are always the same. You put the best players on the pitch that are 100 percent focused to win the game.”
Eddie Nketiah: “It was a very important three points. We’ve been unfortunate, especially in the first game & last game, results didn’t go our way but we knew we had to roll our sleeves up & fight for the three points. Hopefully we can build on from this & keep pushing forward.”
Nketiah on his goal: “We work a lot on our high-press. For me personally, I try to give my all for the team. Things like that, I can smell, a bit of uncertainty from the goalkeeper & I just kept following in. I’ve done that 100 times so it’s nice one leads to a goal!”
Eddie Nketiah: “I think that’s just the way I play - I always try to be a nuisance, pull my weight & chase for the team, try & hold the ball. The team all worked hard together & was unlucky not to score a few more goals but it’s nice to get three points.”
Eddie Nketiah on the mindset of the players after their victory against Southampton: “I think very focused. Nobody likes losing, especially us, we’ve been working so hard during the quarantine break & when we came back training. We needed to reward ourselves with three points.”
Kieran Tierney: “People always say, ‘Why aren’t you training in a jumper?’, but I never play in a jumper on a Saturday, so it makes sense to wear the same attire in training. I don’t mean anything by it, it’s just what I feel comfortable in.” ( @SkySports)
Tierney: “The rest of them are all snooded-up, wearing hats & the rest of it! But the winter down here is nothing compared to the winter in Scotland. It’s not even cold down here. You should see the weather in Scotland, then we’ll talk.”
Jamie Redknapp: “It’s obvious he [Arteta] wants to change it up. Özil’s not getting a sniff at the moment, he’s not interested in him, he had the umbrella up, he was just cruising. He’s got so much talent but he obviously doesn’t fit into what Mikel Arteta wants.” ( @SkySports)
On August 31, 2014, Wenger went to sleep happy that Arsenal would be signing Radamel Falcao the following day. He woke up to discover Falcao's representative Mendes had in fact used Arsenal's interest as leverage to negotiate a transfer to Manchester United. ( @MailSport)
Wenger got burnt & vowed never to deal with a super agent again There was always a reluctance with Wenger to engage with super agents even if it was to the detriment of their recruitment strategy His concern was that once you let them in the door you'll never get them/players out
