Well over a year ago, when Twitter accounts were being shadowbanned and suspended for no apparent reason, several followers suggested that I start a place for social media resistance myself.

What is Mastodon & why have we moved?
After the aforementioned bans & suspensions, most #HeroesResist accounts decided it was time to find a new social media home.
We've been scouting out new platforms since the problems began. We wanted a place with consistent guidelines. 2/8

What we wanted was a place where we could post, like, and repost links, gifs, and videos, and whatever we felt was relevant, the way you can on Twitter. We wanted to have public conversations that could be shared.
Eventually, we settled on Mastodon.

Mastodon is the closest one can get to Twitter, only without a corporate owner that appears to favor Trumpism.
Mastodon is a platform that consists of hundreds of servers, which are called instances, that all link together in what's called the Fediverse (federated universe.) 4/8

You can join an existing instance, as we did in the beginning, or you can create your own, as we did just last week.

Many followers have kindly reached out to say they missed my work on Twitter.
I do, too, but every suspension or ban deleted my work and the work of others in the group.
Now that work will reside somewhere we own. It can never be removed by an outside source. 6/8
