If you, a white English person, are talking about the systemic racism as a global issue, and the only example you come up with is "Israeli secret services taught US police how to kill black people", then it doesn't sound like you want to understand global systemic racism 1/
Not transatlantic slavery. Not Diego Garcia. Not the Iraq war. Not refugees drowning in the Med. Not the disproportional effect of COVID on black people in US and UK. No, it's Israeli secret services teaching US police how to kill black people. 2/
Let's call it for what it is: Shifting the blame. Abjection. Self-cleansing. Self exculpation. "It's not us." This horrible racism thing comes from somewhere else. From some other people. Israel. The Jews. 3/
Israel is a settler colonial state. It was established through the expulsion and dispossession of over 700,000 Palestinians. It holds millions of people under military occupation. But it did not invent white supremacy. US police did not need Israel to teach them anything 4/
In fact, had white supremacy not existed, there wouldn't have been any Israel in the first place. Had European Jews been seen as European, they wouldn't have been pushed to emigrate and genocided when they didn't. Zionism didn't happen in a vacuum 5/
As Yael said here https://twitter.com/Yael_Shafritz/status/1276133233516838913?s=20
I fear that the lesson from the sacking of RLB would be "you can't talk about Israel" which is the worst lesson, because it would only confirm antisemitic notions of Jewish exceptionalism 6/
But in fact it's not so difficult or complicated to talk about injustice in Israel/Palestine, and global ramifications, without resorting to this "anti-racism of fools" which uses Israel, and effectively Jews, as a cop-out from addressing entrenched white supremacy /end
